The human body is an amazing machine, capable of incredible feats. However, sometimes it can fall out of balance, leading to pain and ill health.

One way to restore balance and harmony within the body is through vibrational resonance therapy (VRT).

Resonance therapy uses vibrations to encourage the body to heal itself and return to a state of optimal health.

In this blog, we will explore the health benefits of Resonance Therapy, what it is and how you can incorporate it into your infrared sauna.

Benefits of Resonance Therapy

Resonance therapy, also called sound resonance therapy or vibrational resonance therapy (VRT), is a form of sound healing or sound bath that utilises sound waves to restore balance and harmony within the body.

Sound healing therapy can be used to treat a variety of physical and emotional problems, and is thought to work by affecting the meridians and energy pathways within the body.

It is primarily used by a trained practitioner to affect the autonomic nervous system for personal growth.

VRT is best explained as a combination of sound therapy, music therapy, and whole-body vibration therapy - all of which are very similar, yet slightly different. We will do our best to explain each of these, and hopefully this will provide you with a better understanding of VRT and how you can use it.

The benefits of VRT include:

  • Stress Relief
  • Relaxation
  • Activating a meditative state
  • Improve mood
  • Reduce pain
  • Improve sleep quality
  • Support muscle recovery

VRT is an overall safe and effective way to improve whole-body health, and it can be used individually or as a complementary sauna accessory with your Clearlight Sauna.

Understanding Sound, Frequency, Vibration and Resonance.

  1. Sound is what we hear when vibrations travel through the air and are picked up by our ears.
  2. Frequency refers to how often something happens, or how many times it repeats in a certain amount of time.
  3. Vibration is the movement or oscillation of energy within a substance.
  4. When two objects vibrate at the same frequency, they create resonance. This is why sound waves can cause things to vibrate – because they create a resonance between the object and the air around it.

What is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is a centuries-old technique that uses specific frequencies and sounds to heal the body. The human body is capable of absorbing and responding to vibration, and sound healing harnesses this natural ability to affect the vagus nerve with healing vibrations.

Although some people may be sceptical of its effectiveness, there is a growing body of evidence to support the use of vibration therapy for a variety of conditions.

The application of healing frequencies has shown promising results in animal studies for wound and bone healing, while for psychiatric issues, there have been promising results in both human studies and animal studies on the frequency of the effect on anxiety, depression and aggression.

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is the use of music to trigger an emotional response to achieve a certain goal. The goal can be anything from well-being to lowering blood pressure.

Some practitioners claim that music therapy can boost morale and even cure mental disorders, however, studies on this are scarce. One of the benefits of music therapy is that it can be tailored to the specific needs of each individual.

What is the Difference: Music Therapy Vs Sound Healing?

The difference between the two is that music therapy uses a cacophony of frequencies and harmonies that trigger an emotional response, and is primarily used to treat a variety of mental disorders.

Sound healing, on the other hand, is the use of sound waves - such as the solfeggio frequencies - using a variety of tools, such as Tibetan singing bowls, vocal toning and binaural beats, to restore well-being within the body.

Simply put, music therapy utilises music, where sound healing utilises individual sounds.

What is Whole Body Vibration?

Whole-body vibration is when the entire body is exposed to vibrations. These vibrations cause a release of endorphins to improve mood, reduce stress, and promote relaxation. It is also used with the elderly to promote tendon, ligament and muscle strength, as well as bone density.

The effects of vibration for healing, have also been well documented, helping with Parkinson's disease and psoriasis and neurodermatitis.

A 2014 study found that participants who were subject to vibrational therapy pre-workout had significantly less muscle soreness 24hrs, 48hrs, and 72hrs post-workout.

What is Vibrational Resonance Therapy?

Vibrational resonance therapy incorporates these three principles of healing all at once.

It is the application of frequencies to be felt as vibrations, which create resonance with the human cells.

Incorporating VRT in your sauna allows for deeper relaxation, muscle stimulation and further control over the autonomic nervous system.

How Does Resonance Therapy Work in Your Clearlight Sauna?

Clearlight® VRT devices are connected to the underside of your sauna bench. The devices connect with high-quality speakers inside the sauna and are activated by Bluetooth.

You can then choose to listen to music or sounds - depending if you prefer a sound bath or music therapy - and the devices release those frequencies through the bench and into the body.

These frequencies and harmonies interact with the energy pathways of the body for vibrational resonance to occur.

The Power of Sound Healing

If you're like most people, you probably think of sound healing as some kind of new-age hocus-pocus.

But the truth is, sound healing is a real and effective way to heal the body, mind, and soul.

Let's explore everything you need to know about sound healing and by the end, you'll be a sound healing expert!

History of Sound Therapy

The history of sound therapy can be traced back to ancient cultures such as the Chinese, Indian, and Ancient Egyptians.

These cultures believed that different sounds could affect different areas of the body and that by listening to or singing specific sounds, you could improve your health and find spiritual order.

For example, the Chinese believed that different sounds can release energetic blockages to release tension. Indian culture believed that sound was a gateway to the spiritual world and that by using sound healing techniques, you can connect with the divine.

And in Ancient Egyptian, it was believed that music was an essential part of the afterlife journey.

How Does Sound Healing Work?

Sound healing works because our cells constantly vibrate at different frequencies, and these frequencies trigger different cellular functions.

By using sound vibrations, we can cause a resonance with our molecular biology to harmonise it into a state of self-healing.

This energy is thought to manipulate our brain waves, releasing stuck energy, shifting our mental state by undoing situations in life and helping us find inner peace.

By exposure to certain sound frequencies, it is possible to bring our energy fields back into balance and thus improve our health.

Is Sound Healing Good?

Sound healing is said to reduce stress, improve sleep quality, ease anxiety and depression symptoms, reduce pain, and even boost the immune system.

Sound therapy or sound baths involves sitting or lying down in a room while different types of sounds are played.

This can include Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, tuning forks, gongs, and vocal toning.

The purpose of a sound healing session is to create sonic vibrations that help restore emotional balance.

Tools Used in Sound Healing

A professional sound healer uses use a variety of tools to create audible or inaudible vibrations. While many people associate sound healing with singing bowls, there are a wide variety of tools that practitioners use to facilitate healing.

Sound Healing Tuning Forks

Tuning forks are often used in sound healing for their ability to produce pure tones.

When these tones are emitted into the body, they can help to reduce pain and inflammation and promote relaxation. Tuning forks are typically made of metal and can be activated by striking them with a mallet or simply by clanging them together.

Sound Healing Singing Bowls

Singing bowls are another popular tool in sound healing. These bowls are traditionally made of quartz crystal, but they can also be made of other materials like ceramic or metal.

Singing bowls produce a rich, full sound when they are struck with a mallet or rubbed with a dampened hand around the rim.

Sound Healing Gongs

Gongs are musical instruments that have been used for centuries in religious and spiritual ceremonies. Gongs produce a deep, resonant sound that can be both calming and energising.

When gongs are played, they create vibrations that travel through the body and can help to release blocked energy.

Tools that emit low frequencies are said to release emotions that are trapped in the body.

This is because low frequencies have a vibrational quality that is similar to the frequency of emotions. As you can see, there are a variety of different tools that sound healers use to facilitate healing. Each tool has its unique advantages that can help address specific needs.

Different Frequencies for Healing:

There is a wide range of sound frequencies, some of the most commonly cited frequencies include:

  • Delta Waves (0.5-4 Hz): These low-frequency waves are associated with deep sleep and relaxation
  • Theta Waves (4-8 Hz): These waves are also linked with sleep and relaxation, as well as increased creativity and intuition
  • Alpha Waves (8-12 Hz): These waves promote calmness and focus while also reducing anxiety and stress levels
  • Beta Waves (12-38 Hz): These higher-frequency waves are linked with increased alertness and concentration

Every cell in our body has its natural frequency, known as a resonant frequency. When we are exposed to sound waves with a frequency that matches our cells' resonant frequency, these waves can cause the cells to vibrate.

This vibration can then have a variety of effects on the body, depending on the specific frequency involved.

Vibrational resonance therapy utilises this new and emerging field of study to restore the cells' natural resonance frequency.
